We all know that celebrities spend quite a lot of time and money getting their skin red carpet ready. If you aren’t a celebrity but you have an important event coming up – a wedding, a big presentation, a family reunion, or a big celebration – how do you get your skin red carpet ready? Truthfully, all it takes is a little planning and the right spa treatments and at home products for your skin can look great in time for your big event.
A Month Before
About a month before your big event is the right time to start seeing professionals – an esthetician and a doctor. Go to an esthetician for both professional treatments and for home skin care advice. This is the time to get a facial with extractions done so that your skin will be smooth and clear. Though soothing and hydrating facials are wonderful to leave that facial for a week before your event unless you have super sensitive skin. A month before your event is the right time for more aggressive skin treatments such as chemical peels, laser treatments, and as already mentioned above facials with extractions. If you have acne you need to actively start treating your skin so that it is as clear as possible before your celebration.
In addition to your treatment with an esthetician, you need to evaluate your home skincare routine. Remember twice a day you have an opportunity to treat your skin so be sure to take full advantage of it. Review your skin goals with your esthetician so that she help make sure you have the right products at home; show her what you are currently using. Make sure you have an exfoliator and moisturizer that works for your skin type. I would also suggest adding a weekly facial mask to your home care routine. This is a great way to hydrate and balance your skin.
Above I also suggested that you see a doctor about a month before your event. Why? If you are interested in getting facial fillers or Botox this is the time to have a consultation with a dermatologist or plastic surgeon. Also if you decide that you do want to go ahead with these types of procedures it is best to do it about a month before your event so that you can see the full effect of the injections, have time to make corrections and tweaks if needed, and can recover fully from any swelling or minor bruising that may occur with the injections.
A Week Before
A week before your important event go back to the spa for a soothing and hydrating facial, and if you want extra pampering to get a massage too. This a great time to de-stress since stress is terrible for our skin. This is not the time to get invasive treatments, do aggressive treatments, or try new skin care products. You don’t want to do anything that will disrupt or harm the hard work you’ve been doing on your skin up until now. Concentrate on maintaining what you’ve achieved skin wise.
Find ways to de-stress at home such as meditating and exercising. Don’t pick at your skin or obsess about it. Have faith before going outdoor that your skin will look great at your event.
The Day Of
The day of your big event takes some extra time to care for your skin. Apply a hydrating facial mask for at least 10 minutes and use plenty of moisturizers. This is also a great time to give yourself a facial massage or better yet get someone to give you a facial massage. Then take a deep breathe and enjoy your event!
